Years ago, spent almost a year as a freelance copywriter using spare time to do more arty things and spend long times abroad. One of the nice things I did in terms of “art with no pressure but only fun”, was taking part in a collective exhibition of art with vinyls, sponsored by HP who gave us a cutting plotter and vinyl rolls. 7 unpretentious pop pieces for it, a collection of vinyl head-boards that I still plan to commercialize, and a collection of tables for computers. Research on what to use as a canvas was most of the fun. Then, back to 200% time at agencies, where you get another sort of fun. So since I oficcially became self-employed in 2009, time for arty stuff feels very enjoyable, as much as I don´t put pressure on myself for it. For it, I found the formula of working in adland, and spending spare time just making. Whatever. But having fun in the making. Not so worried with being perfect, but being happy with making stuff.
So now, again, I am working on an amazing project with vinyls, to design a deco project for a Children Hospital, as part of a donation project a group of people are involved in, for the amazing Juegaterapia. This non-profit organizationcollect old game consoles you won´t use, and give them to kids going through chemotherapy treatments, to make it easier for them to pass time there.
This vinyl is for one room, will size 2 x 2 meters. Message: “a drawing a day keeps boredom away”
I believe pen and paper is also a good way to get distracted. It´s what i´m talking about arty stuff without putting pressure. Also tried to design something to entertain time trying to read and in details.
This design liked them so much that I have now been commissioned with a bigger project. I will talk about when is done. But I cannot tell how happy this project is making me. Really. Thanks Juegaterapia, because this is being a therapy for me as well.
